Both the Fiat 500
and Matiz are the same length. The Fiat 500 is significantly wider
which might be a disadvantage in this market. Narrow width gives an
advantage when parking side-by-side, negotiating narrow drives and
old garages.

Although both
cars look different there's striking similarity in their
utilitarian, rational approach, typical of Italian design. Both cars
are cheeky, chic and smart.

Inside the Matiz
may be and certainly appears more spacious than the Fiat 500.
-
The Fiat 500 may
be better to drive with its 1.2 engine but there's no material
difference in economy and both come in sub-120g/km on emissions.

The reason the
Fiat 500 is wider without being roomier is because of its side crash
protection giving it a 5-Star Crash Protection NCAP rating.

There's little
difference between these two cars but there's a massive difference
in price. And if you take up Fiat 500 customising options the gap
widens.
The two real differences are the
Matiz is:

a 5-door with easy entry and
exit, and
-
you can buy 3-years servicing
and the 2nd & 3rd year AA cover for just £249.
