I’ve select the smallest engine option. You’ll find most larger 1.4 petrol engines are equally as economical as 1.2 engines.  Most 1.4s also fall into the same CO2 band C. But you’ll have to check it out for yourself.

When you put all the figures together you can see in most cases there’s no significant difference - so there may be no difference on the real road. Please note these figures are for comparison purposes only and are not what different drivers might experience in different real on the road conditions. If figures are similar – no significant difference – you should not place any value on the difference because the difference may not be present in real conditions.

Small cars come in 3 sizes – tiny city cars about 3.5m, super-mini cars about 3.7m and super-size minis near 4m. My tip is - choose a car size to suit your lifestyle.

Here are the figures side by side on one page so you don’t have to flick through pages in magazines, brochures or websites.
